OffTEC expands training courses for technicians using real wind technology in collaboration with Siemens

OffTEC Base has been working closely together with the Siemens Wind Power and Renewables Division since 2010. Now both firms want to intensify their cooperation by developing practically oriented training courses. To this end, OffTEC has ordered two of the latest direct drive wind turbines, Siemens SWT-3.6-130, which will be installed in the wind farm near the training ground. This will form the basis for cooperating in the development of future course content and for training technicians on real wind technology.

This intensive exchange will help both companies: OffTEC profits from Siemens’ leading role in the industry-wide introduction of work safety standards while Siemens can have an important part of its installation and service technicians trained at OffTEC using the latest turbines. The two new wind turbines complement a wind farm that already includes all the important Siemens models. The two SWT-3.6-130’s should already be erected in summer 2017.

Cooperation in the fields of safety and technology
“We are delighted that the long-term project cooperation with Siemens is entering the next stage”, says Andreas Rauschelbach, technical director at OffTEC. “We can now expand our training modules and provide state of the art real wind technology.” His colleague, commercial director Klaus Loesmann adds: “Modern technical professionals in the wind industry deserve the highest level of work safety. This is why we are consistently expanding our basic concept, which is to hold all training courses for offshore and onshore technicians as realistically as possible and at one location. The expansion of our training field to include the latest generation of wind turbines is therefore an important step for us.”

“We have been working with OffTEC successfully since 2010, in order to implement the best possible standards of work safety on wind turbines as well as training our employees”, says Markus Tacke, CEO of Siemens Wind Power and Renewables Division. “The training courses complement our activities in northern Germany with a key element: this means that our locations in Lower Saxony, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein not only represent the latest wind turbine technology, but also the leading safety standards for maintenance on land at out at sea.”
