OffTEC optimally prepared for further growth - expanded capacities, more certificates, new website

With the expansion of its training capacities, another much coveted GWO certificate and an impressive new web presence, the Enge-Sande-based OffTEC Base GmbH & Co. KG is entering the autumn/winter training season 2017/2018. The training centre with focus on safety, rescue and wind turbine technology henceforth presents itself with the motto “Respect the Elements”. And the newly revamped and very user-friendly website also contains a booking module where you can easily find courses for all elements – fire, water, air and earth.

In the Technology Training Centre (TTC) it is all about rescue from the air and from heights. OffTEC has just extended the TTC to double the training capacity, while offering new training equipment, including a tricky practice bridge, at the same time. OffTEC has also been awarded the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) certificate for Basic Technical Training (BTT). On successful completion of the BTT course participants also receive a GWO certificate.

Respect the Elements

“Our new website is very service-oriented and uses very expressive images to show they key parts of our unique training conditions. Respect for the elements is the basis for sustainable safety and rescue training. That is something that course participants realise at the latest when for example they have to fight against two-metre waves”, says Klaus Loesmann, commercial managing director at OffTEC. “With a few clicks you can quickly find the course you want among the comprehensive training and advanced training courses we offer. In addition to the very convenient operation, the innovative booking system also provides full date and cost transparency.”

Safe in precarious situations

The need for training in rescue at height for both onshore and offshore wind turbines increase in line with the complexity of the technology. With the significant enlargement of the TTC at its Enge-Sande base, OffTEC now has even more flexible possibilities in the area of safety at height and rescue at height. “On the one hand we have created additional capacities for carrying out basic training courses, and on the other hand we can now simulate new difficult situations,” says a delighted technical managing director Andreas Rauschelbach. The TCC is designed for a variety of evacuation and rescue scenarios. So now we not only have wind turbine simulators and a platform but also a challenging practice bridge with which even experienced course participants face unknown situations. OffTEC has simultaneously expanded its range of newly developed advanced rescue training courses. These include for example rescue from confined spaces, from depth or from areas where there is a risk of falling, such as the transition piece out at sea.

GWO Certification for the BTT

The now GWO-certified Basic Technical Training (BTT) prepares personnel in the onshore and offshore wind industry for the dangers of the different systems in wind turbines. Participants are trained how to handle hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems and thereby sensitised about the dangers faced at work. OffTEC teaches all modules in accordance with GWO standards. The four-day BTT is aimed at technically trained staff who do not as yet have experience of these systems. The course can also be used as advanced training for technicians with specialist knowledge in these area, but have little experience of their application in wind turbines. The GWO certificate that the participants receive is valid indefinitely.
