In theoretical and practical parts of the course the participants learn the safe and correct way to use personal protective equipment against falls from a height (PPE) when working where there is a danger of falling in accordance with the GWO standard and the directives in DGUV 112-198,199. Participants are able to assess the safety of different work situations and can perform effective rescue measures on their own in the work environment of a wind turbine.

Persons who work in areas where there is a risk of falling, such as in the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of wind turbines and other high infrastructures.
A minimum of physical fitness is expected. Participants must not have any health-related restrictions, especially to the respiratory tracts, or suffer any cardiovascular diseases or spinal disorders.
In accordance with youth protection legislation, the minimum age for participation is 18 years.

A GWO certificate will be awarded on successful completion of the course and if required also an additional DGUV-compliant certificate. There will be a charge of EUR 25 for the second (additional) certificate. Please observe that the certificates are valid for different periods.
The GWO certificate is valid for two years and the DGUV for one year.
Please bring appropriate protective work clothing and S3 safety shoes. It is recommended that you train using your own PPE, so please bring this if you have it. Please state if you will need to borrow a PPE (for which there is a charge) when booking the course. You will also require clothing suitable for the weather and suitable work gloves as the practical part of the course takes place outside.
If required, the course certificates will be uploaded onto the GWO’s WINDA database.
Please note that it is only possible to upload the course onto the WINDA database if we are informed of the participant’s WINDA-ID by the start of the course.
For refresher courses it is also necessary to provide the expiry date of the preceding certificate.
